Reading Intervention

In speech therapy, the communication assistants and/or interns will work with campers individually, in small groups, or in cabin groups. They work on target skills based on the needs of the individual campers as well as working on needed communication skills. Students IEP goals are reviewed when the speech therapist plans their summer camp therapy goals.

In reading, campers will work on their comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, research and other critical thinking skills. During the different camping sessions, the OT staff will work with individual campers or in cabin groups. They work on important skills such as improving independence in a camper's activities of daily living, fine motor skills, handwriting, hygiene, social skills, and regulation of emotions.
